A Coveted Walk In The Woods

Me in my clam digger jeans and my hiking boots.

A view of the falls.

Theresa flanked by Charles and Johnny - the 3 survivors.
I finally got that coveted fall walk in the woods. I was fortunate to be
in one of God's most beautiful creations and one of Indiana's
best State Parks, Clifty Falls in Madison Indiana. The occasion
was a Kasper family reunion. My husband's mother was a Kasper
and her father came from Germany and settled in Madison
He was a grocer and one of the memories I carry with me was
that he had a pickle barrel and sold pickles for about 2 cents.
My father was a Hakka shopkeeper in Jamaica and we sold things
in miniscule quantities for very little as well, so this memory is
close to home for me. Grandfather Kasper had 3 wives and 12
children of whom only 3 still survive. We went for a hike after lunch
and one of the Uncles made it half way down to the falls.
Way to go Uncle John.
The older I get the more I think about the globality of life and how I
got from where my ancestors were and where I am today.

Enough for a Monday.
