Perhaps the Last deck Party of 2010!

This might have been the last deck party
of the season as the weather is changing.
This one was perfect. We had a beautiful
moon and many generations of people.

Nancy drove all the way from Michigan

The occasion was to welcome Eva to Indianapolis.
We had Jamaican food, wine and friends which
is a great combination

A big thumbs up for this visit.
Jen and Penny new best friends.

Some friends made new ones.

A good time was had by all.

Can I Keep A Secret?

Yes I can keep a secret. Last weekend I kept one and
pulled off a big surprise. While visiting
Croatia we had met a young Hungarian girl
named Eva who was with her Dad cruising the Adriatic.
We hungout a lot because who can resist 7 crazy
American women? I am including myself.
We kept in contact with Eva and just 2 years
ago when we were biking from Austria to
Budapest we again met up with them.
They were so hospitable to us and showed
us a fine evening in a Hungarian winery complete
with wine, dinner and dancing. But that is a whole
other blog. Eva came to visit and I kept it a secret
from Penny. We wanted to surprise her and I
I think we did.
"No, it can't be true. Oh my God"
Greg looks on enjoying as he was in on the
secret.
Big smiles all around.
I'm giving myself a pat on the back for
pulling this off.

Hope Ride - Cowpies.

The Hope Ride started in Hope Indiana
on September 18. Hope is close to Columbus, IN.
It was a ride to benefit the food bank.
Weather was perfect for a 35 mile ride.
This is a ride that feeds you well.
Breakfast and lunch are served.
Above is my faithful Trek

We could hardly get any one in our group interested in
participating. There were only 5 of us.
But they did manage to get 2500 people
to ride.

Above is one of the entertaining bands.
They did "Rocky Top Tennessee" which
for the record is one of my favorite songs
to dance to.
For the record, 35 miles "whooped" me.
I took a nap and passed up a party and
was a couch potato the rest of the day.
Imagine me not attending a party.
Maybe it was the rolling hills.

The Wedding-Elegant-Casual-Cultural-Enjoyable

The wedding was upstaged by Baby D
making his family debut. Hope Ruby and
Gaddi did not mind sharing their day
with him.

I had to steal this photo from my
daughter in law's blog as it is so
cute. These are the youngest cousins
in the Hughes family. Aren't they
beautiful?
This is Uncle Scott with his new friend Berlin

The proud family celebrating their
family day - 1 year since they came
home from Korea with the little bundle of joy.

Little Dee meeting Great Uncle Jack
and Uncle Tim.

Special dancers were flown in and they did
traditional Rwandan dances. It was a very
special day for a perfect blending of families
and cultures.

Visit to the Jamaican Pattie Shop.

Patties are meat turnovers which
are very popular in Jamaica. My
kids loved patties and they still do.
Everytime they would return home
they would always go to the pattie shop
to visit Uncle Henry and eat lunch.
Here are Henry and Stefan making
them by hand. Not too much automation
going on here.

Well little Dee paid his 1st visit to the pattie
shop and was welcomed by great Uncle
Henry, Stefan and Eva.

Here comes the acid test.
Little Dee is no different from
my boys. He loves Patties
too.

Honoring the Ancestors.

Dee Dee paid his 1st visit to Indy
home of his great paternal grand
parents. It was fitting that he paid
his respects to their gravesites
and offered flowers snarfed from
some one else's urn. I don't think
they would have minded.
We did many fun things but
I was touched by this one.
These great grand parents were
truly "great" in all senses of
the word.
For the record he did return
the flowers to the rightful
owners.
