Jamaican Chinese Hospitality!

Jamaican Chinese hospitality if you are lucky to experience it

goes something like this. Our hostess is Ginny, who is not a blood relative

but someone who went to school with us and socialized with the family.

With just 1 night's notice, she invited all my siblings to spend the

night before my bother Dennis' funeral so we could be together.

She prepared a gourmet meal of peppered shrimps,

oxtail stew with beans, curried lamb, boiled bananas,

Jamaican cole slaw and asparagus. Yummy to all of that.

Below she is posing with our only surviving brother, Arthur, whom she

dated after High School and all the sisters wished that he would

have married her. That is our wish because simply put ,we know

she would have taken care of him with love. That is every chinese

woman's dream for her son or brother.

Although I had not seen her for over 30 years I felt very comfortable in her

home which was warmly decorated with a feeling of green. She owns a

nursery and has a way with plants so she has created a beautiful garden

like setting both inside and out. She tells you to help yourself to anything

and put your feet up.

She spends 2 hours daily in the summer maintaining

these magnificent gardens which has a bridge and

a gazebo and places to sit and contemplate.

At the end of the day you can watch the Olympics and doze

off randomly as we do these days. This my friends is the epitome

of Chinese Jamaican hospitality.

Oh No another funeral!

This is my brother Dennis when he married his 1st wife

Bernadette who went to High School with me and was

one of my roomates in boarding school. They had 3 beautiful girl

Linda, Shelley, and Jackie. They were divorced and I remember

being very devastated by it. He remarried and so did she and

I lost contact with the girls though I remember loving them

deeply. Dennis passed away on February 15, 2010 after a

heart attack at age 70.

I went to Florida for his funeral and as usual had a bittersweet time

renewing ties with his children, family and old friends.

Above is Shelley, Auntie Nettie, Auntie Doreen and Linda

Above we have All of his 3 girls with the addition
of Auntie Betty

Above we have added some other nieces and nephews

This is my brother's daughter Sabrina from his
second wife Grace and her husband and their 3
sons. She is also expecting a 4th child.

Here are the surviving siblings of the Lowe
family. There were 5 boys and only Arthur
stands between his 4 sisters now.
Don't wait to have that family reunion. Do it now. Don't hesitate to tell
your family that you love them. Time goes by so quickly.

What A Cutie!

I could not resist showing this to all my peeps.
My daughter in law has this on her blog and I hope she doesn't mind me posting this
because who can resist such charm and a certain European savoir faire.
Okay I am definitely grandma gone wild.

Movie Review- HBO Temple Grandin

I saw an HBO production about an autistic woman named Temple
Grandin who has overcome her autism with her perseverance
and encouragement from her mother. She has a PHD in animal
husbandry and is a big spokesperson for autism. She had to fight
the establishment of educators as well as the male dominated
field of animal husbandry in order to get her education and her ideas
in practice. The role was played by Claire Danes who deserves an
Oscar for her portrayal. This woman sees everything visually so she
excels in engineering. I think HBO did a great job of presenting
the visuality and how it worked for Temple. This was a very
uplifting movie.

COLTS WOES!

Colts fans were stunned with the 31-17 defeat
handed to us by the New Orleans Saints led by
Purdue's Drew Breeze
We are over the loss and happy that something
good happened to New Orleans.

Ann stands atop Stan and Bill trying to cheer the Colts
on. They were lucky it was a lightweight like Ann.

Marilyn gave a wonderful cheer as she had high
school experience however I did not have my
camera ready to capture it. You had to be there.
Carol and Roger were really feeling the loss.

Some money was won by Susan and Don but the room was
very quiet as was all of Indianapolis.

Families and friends gather to honor my cousin Percy.

Percy who is married to my cousin carol passed away on Jan, 29, 2010
although it was a sad occasion it was also good to see the many
relatives and friends who came from near and far to honor
his memory.

Mexican Getaway!

Jill's annual tennis getaway for 2010 was a big hit.
The ladies enjoyed some fun shopping in town. Group dinners are fun when we ladies dress up
and look very spiffy
Pat was the only male on the trip and he fit right in with us.
Such a a lovely couple .

The Colonial church in town was beautiful.

Marival Resort and Suites worked well. They had
four courts.

View from the main lobby. Trust me we had a sunset every evening.

Yes we played tennis about 3 hours per day

Young ladies get away from kids and husbands

After tennis margaritas and nachos.

Beach scene. Just nap and read and watch people.
